Northern China Eatery in Chamblee

My roommate had brought me here to try out the food. Out of most places in Atlanta, this restaurant had a wholesome atmosphere to it, as the food felt genuine. While the price may be pricey, it is worth. I will definitely be returning to this location in the near future.

It sounds mean but to be honest Panda express is more authentic chinese food than this.

Wonderful dumplings and other authentic North China foods. Tough to see from the road but worth seeking out. You won't be disappointed!

Good place ... low on English language. Use the menu and imagination... their vegetarian dumplings were decent...

So my wife is Chinese and I lived there for 10 years and have just moved back. We found this place through rave reviews on a Chinese social network. We went and enjoyed the most authentic Chinese food I've ever had outside China. Humble surroundings and the outside isn't much to look at but the food is excellent, better than many places in china. Don't expect to have Americanized dishes like orange chicken here. They make everything from scratch. Staff friendly and no problems with English. Everything is clean, great place. Try to use chopsticks cuz otherwise I've only seen spoons and plastic forks! Highly recommend.

This is the best spot in Atlanta for northern Chinese food - bar none. If you miss 陕西凉皮 or 煎饼果子 come here. I am a happy camper when I’m here.

An absolute gem of a restaurant. We tried both the fried, and the steamed dumplings, and the pork buns, and the soup dumplings. All remarkably different, and all fantastically good. Their version of the scallion pancake was absolutely great. Everything tasted fresh, like they had just made it. The reason: They indeed just made it, and this is reflected in the wonderful taste. Also, outstanding value for the money.Perhaps even more importantly, all the people who worked there were so very nice. You really knew it was a family restaurant when, taking turns, members of the kitchen came out to have their own lunches. We will be back and tell our friends too. Parking was easy/plentiful and the restaurant is on the lower level.I've eaten in a variety of restaurants all over the world, including Asia, and this place gets my 2 thumbs up.

My family and I love Northern Chinese eatery! The food is authentic and there are so many choices. I recommend the sweet and sour fish , cumin lamb , hit and sour soup and the steamed pork buns!

Excellent dumplings! We tried the pork and cabbage dumplings as well as the lamb and zucchini. For the price (roughly $10 for 16 dumplings), you can't beat it. The Shanghai soup dumplings were also amazing, as was the eggplant in garlic sauce. I cannot recommend this place enough! And I cannot wait to go back and experience more of their menu! The staff had excellent recommendations and was super friendly!

We had the garlic pork, steamed pork buns, and a pork dish in a brown sauce. All three were very good. They are very nice and welcoming.

It is literally a whole in the wall spot that is FANTASTIC! staff is very friendly. The food is awesome. I try something new each time and I've gone 3 times this month and I eat a lot, so I've gotten a lot off the menu. I haven't been disappointed yet.

Loved, loved, loved, LOVED this place!!!!! Our waiter was super nice and helped with great suggestions on what to order and even explained how to eat soup dumplings. Can't wait to come back next time we're in the area! We split an order of pork soup dumplings, shrimp and pork fried dumplings, cumin skewer chicken and noodles. We got an order of scallion pancakes, but found them a little bland. They would be great if you had kind of a picky eater with you though.

A small place but good Ambience and tasty food!

We went at 6:30 pm on a Friday and it was packed! Delicious! Recommend: Shanghai Juicy Bun (soup dumplings) ($9.95), Chicken Fried Rice ($8.95), Scallion Beef ($15.95), Vegetable Dumplings ($9.95), Fried Lamb with Zucchini Dumplings ($10.55). We also got the Scallion Pancakes ($4.95—a little pricey for what it is). They weren’t really anything special, and we probably wouldn’t order them again. For 6 meals (we got 2 Chicken Fried Rice) and 1 appetizer, it was just under $70 before tax. Tip: It’s BYOB!! We’ll definitely take advantage of that next time!We’ll be back! Convenient, fast, decently priced, good service!

This place is awesome! I recently went to LA and had Din Tai Fung's soup dumplings and NCE's are just as good. Plus they have an amazing sweet and sour cucumber dish that is one of the best things I've ever eaten. Check. Them. Out!

Excellent soup dumplings and pork buns. The garlic broccoli was fresh and crunchy. And, the scallion pancakes were light, crisp and tasty. Look forward to visiting again.The service was friendly, quick and efficient.

Dumpling heaven! Northern China Eatery was highly recommended to me by a friend and it did not disappoint. I did a pickup order and the online ordering was user friendly and fast. The service was execellent and I feel like they have taken good measures for COVID. Do yourself a favor and order some dumplings!

The food was pretty good. I got the Stir fried chicken with garlic sauce and I ate every bite. It had a sweet and spicy taste which I liked. The restaurant was very homelike style which was different. Here’s some photos of what we ordered yum

I had lunch here and mainly focused on the dumplings, but the other menu items looked great too. The soup dumplings were some of the better ones I have had and everything we ordered was prompt, hot, and tasty.Beware of the fennel filled dumplings unless you really like that flavor, it can be a little overpowering.

Incredible fresh food. We had 2 orders of the pork buns (1 steamed and 1 fried) and our kiddos loved them. So did we! We also had the thick noodles with chicken and it was amazing. Found our new fav restaurant!

Picked up their dumplings from Eventide Brewing a couple weeks ago. They made an error with the order but that was quickly forgiven when the owner displayed the kind of humility that he did. Will always order!

My absolute favorite authentic chinese restaurant! I honestly love everything I've tried here. I bring all my out-of-town friends & relatives here to eat and they've all loved it and say its the best chinese food they've ever had. Don't let the location deter you -- the best places are always hole-in-the-wall/ obscure places! I personally love the pork steam buns, cumin lamb stir fry and potato green pepper eggplant.

While the interior is similar to most other Chinese restaurants in this price bracket, the food is the main draw here. The wide selection of dumplings piqued my curiosity and I was not disappointed. I can highly recommend the classic pork and chive fried dumplings as well as the soup dumplings. Perfect food for a cold rainy day, or a late night bite.

Amazing experience, amazing food and great service. I call Buford Hwy the “yellow brick road” because of hidden gems like Northern China Eatery. They offer delicious and authentic Chinese food. The ambiance of the restaurant makes you feel like you are not in Atlanta and makes the experience more fulfilling. Their staff are super friendly and made us feel at home—answering our many questions about the menu and even surprising us with their yummy red bean, super soft and puffy desert donuts (which everyone should get). Highly, highly recommend this amazing restaurant!

I mean seriously, even frozen dumplings are better than this, very disappointed. I understand the skin got little bit soggy after being enclosed in the takeaway box but I started eating right away, stuffing is almost flavorless .UPDATE: Can I change to ZERO star, I honestly feel offended. The response from the owner from the owner said I was lying and the dumpling I just bought this afternoon are not from their store. How dare you!!! Do you want me to show the receipt for proof. If your food doesn’t live up to satisfaction, kindly accept it and improve rather than denying. It’s not my first time coming here and I will never visit again, lying is not acceptable and ridiculous.

Price is reasonable. Between the 5 of us we spent $85 after taxes and tips. White rice was unfortunately a little under cooked. Their xiao long bao were too small and didn't have enough juices in them. Otherwise everything else was just okay.

The soup dumplings make it worth the trip. Other dishes such as the kung pao chicken and hot and sour soup (which has 6-7 linch sized portions) are solid. Be careful of the mapo tofu. Excellent but it has that pepper that makes your mouth feel numb.

We had Pork and Chives dumplings and Pork Buns. Both are home made and delicious! Servicing size was generous for two people to share and we wrapped up the rest to go. Lady who works the floor was very nice and not too talkative. Pork buns fillings were not shredded like I've had before but still very flavorful! It was very warm in the restaurant.

Authentic, great cooking, a real find

If you love Chinese dumplings then this is where you need to be. The soup dumplings are soooooo incredibly delicious. My husband and I love everything we have tried at this place. The food is amazing!! 10 out of 10!

Awesome Chinese cuisine on Buford Hwy. Their Chongqing Chicken is amazing and one of the best dumpling spots in the city.

This place literally has no road frontage it's tucked under an Italian eyeglass shop. It's worth the hunt and the place was packed, flavors like nothing you'd find in a typical Chinese eatery. I can't remember my dish but it was pretty spicey and awesome. My visit offered very slow service, and they were obviously frustrated. Who In short I felt the vibe of a new York eatery where "only the locals know". There is no decor, it's only about the food. Do it once you'll be won over.

Like many of the ethnic restaurants along Buford highway and doraville, northern China offers a Nice diversion from the typical restaurants so many of us tend to choose. This place has an abundance of choices. Many items are native to the homeland of the owners. A lot of it is fusion where they have made great effort to combine they're native food with some traditionally American styles. We had a fish dish that was dry fried with various chilies and vegetables. Very good. Also had an appetizer called Sweet buns which was like a pot sticker filled with pork soup. Very unique and it's flavor and it's textures. I will definitely be back for more of those!

This is my new favorite Chinese Restaurant! The server gave us some good suggestions on what dishes to try. The Pork in Garlic Sauce was my favorite dish, but everything tasted great. Very unique flavors that you don't get from a typical Chinese Restaurant. The food also had a home made feel that I really enjoyed. Will definitely be back soon!

This restaurant is certainly one of the most pleasant place in the region. Whenever I go there I am highly pleased. They manage their very high level service and the highest level of meals they give. You no doubt will love this restaurant. Highly recommended.
